Attempt to clear up ballot confusion
There have been a lot of calls about the presidential primary ballots that are being sent to people residing in mail in precints, so we thought we would try and clarify what is going on.
In 2024 there are three State Elections scheduled. The Presidential Nomination Primary (PNP) on March 5th, the State Primary Election on August 13th, and the State General Election on November 5th.
The Presidential Nomination Primary election is March 5th, 2024. This is a partisan election that allows voters to identify with a major political party, and let that party know which candidates they wish their party to nominate as delegates to their national convention.
The State Primary election is scheduled for August 13th, 2024. This is a partisan election that allows voters to choose which candidates from their party they want to see on the November ballot.
The State General election is scheduled for November 5th, 2024. This is a non-partisan election, meaning voters are allowed to vote for any candidate they feel best represents them without having to vote along party lines.
1) You should receive three different ballots: Republican, DFL and Marijuana Party.
2) Choose the party in which you best align
3) Complete that ballot, following the instructions on how to return the ballot.
4) Destroy the two remaining ballots.
We hope this clears up any confusion and answers your questions.
