The Campaign Office is located on the north side of the Brett’s Building, 11 Civic Center Plaza, Suite 100, which is the former Sidelines location in the Mankato Place mall. We’re one block south of the Civic Center, or one block west of the Post Office, or half a block east of the Intergovernmental Center.

At the event you’ll meet some of the 2010 candidates and mingle with your fellow Republican activists while enjoying hot dogs, pulled turkey sandwiches, beans, coleslaw, pop & beer.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
Convention begins at 9:00 a.m.
Convention ends when all business is completed, probably early afternoon.

Registration fee: $8 before March 2, or $10 at the door. Please contact us if you were elected a delegate or alternate but did not receive your convention call form.

Coffee and rolls provided at no additional charge.
A box lunch will be available for $7.50; please call 507-625-8061 by 9 a.m. on March 3 to reserve a lunch.

The purpose of the convention will be

1. Election of delegates and alternates to the 2010 District and State Conventions
2. Adoption of Resolutions
3. Finance Report
4. Transaction of other such business as may properly come before the convention.

We will also hear from a number of current candidates and elected Republicans.

$1 of each registration will be donated to the MSU-Mankato College Republicans.

The caucus starts at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, but we recommend planning some extra time to find a parking spot, get signed in, and find your precinct meeting place.

To save time on caucus night, it is helpful to look up and write down your precinct name. The precinct name will be something like “Mankato W-01 P-07” or “Southbend Township“.

At the caucus:

• Attendees vote in a preference poll to indicate their preferred candidate for governor.
• Attendees may present resolutions to make changes to the state GOP platform. For example, “I propose that we amend Section ___ to include ‘…..’.”
• Attendees interested in becoming delegates to the county convention may nominate themselves. Attendees in your precinct then vote on which delegate candidates to elect. The number of delegates depends on the size of your precinct. Those who win move on to the county convention.
• Delegates serve a 2-year term, and are expected to attend the county convention in both years. They may also attend monthly meetings of the Blue Earth County Republicans and vote on business matters (e.g. “Let’s spend $___ on ___ project.”).
• There is no caucus in 2011. Caucuses are held only in even years.

County convention:

• The county convention will be held on Saturday, March 6, at Ostrander Auditorium at MSU. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.; the convention begins at 9:00 a.m. A box lunch will be available. More details to follow.

We will begin with a light pot-luck meal at 6 p.m., with rehearsal beginning at 7 p.m. We will go through the caucus proceedings, outline the legal requirements, and answer any questions you may have about the process.
